JCC June 2020 billing to remain on hold
(except for those families returning to ECDP in June)

Dear Members and Families,

We are now well past the two-month point of our collective “pause” due to the coronavirus pandemic. We hope that you and your family are continuing to stay well and safe as we head into summer. As parts of Central New York begin to reopen, we are excited to have the JCC join in. To achieve this, we’ve been developing comprehensive reopening plans and procedures for a while now, and we are pleased to report that some of our programs will be reopening in the coming weeks.

Are you a senior who has been missing chef Donna’s cooking? Your wait is almost over. Our Senior Kosher Lunch Program will begin curbside pickup service on Monday, June 1. Lunch pickup will run weekdays from 12-12:30 p.m. in front of the JCC main entrance. The cost is still a very affordable $4.25 suggested contribution. Reservations are required by leaving a message at 315-445-2360 at least one business day in advance.

Our Jerome and Phyllis Charney Early Childhood Development Program will reopen on Monday, June 8 and run for four weeks through July 3. We have developed a comprehensive plan to bring the children and staff back into the building in the safest, most responsible way possible. With guidance from the CDC and Office of Children and Family Services we are confident that we will reopen with minimal risk to children and staff.

Pending county approval, the JCC’s Camp Romano summer day camp will open to preschoolers and school-age children on July 6. We’re still figuring out how we can convert our SyraCruisin’ teen travel camp into a non-traveling camp. Should we be allowed to run summer camp, it will look very different this year. Camp will be restructured per CDC guidelines so that we’ll have the proper protocols in place to help safeguard everyone’s health and safety.

On the fitness front, we’ve added many live online Zoom exercise classes lately. They are free for everyone and continue to be a very popular option for working out while providing some much-needed social interaction for many. Our pre-recorded online exercise videos also remain very popular for those who want to exercise on their own schedule.

Finally, while we start reopening parts of the JCC next month, June billing for all membership and program accounts and all prepayments will remain on hold (except for those families returning to ECDP in June). We hope that this will continue to help with your finances. However, if you would like to help the JCC get back on its feet by making a one-time or recurring donation, we will be forever grateful and provide a receipt for tax purposes.

Thank you very much for being part of the JCC family. We hope you and your family remain safe until we see you back at the “J” again!

Sincerely,

Marci Erlebacher
