Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP)

JCC offers fall enrichment classes for preschoolers

Photo of a preschool boy looking up while wearing a superhero cape.The JCC’s Jerome and Phyllis Charney Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) will offer four enrichment classes for preschool children ages 3–5 during fall 2015 starting in early October. Each class runs four weeks and will be held in the Early Childhood Program wing of the JCC.

“We’re offering some great classes this fall to expose children to new and exciting experiences,” says Jo David, the JCC’s Early Childhood Program director. “We make the content fun and engaging so that it makes for a perfect midday break and allows children to learn something new.”

Smarty Cat Kids Junior Scientist Workshop
Age:  3- and 4-year olds
Day:  Thursdays
Dates:  Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29
Time:  1:15–2 pm
Fee:  $32 members, $40 non-members
Class:  Limit 8 (minimum of 5)
Taught by:  Ms. Daisy from Classroom 8

Hands-on science workshops include fun experiments, projects and inquiry-based activities.

Kidz Yoga
Age:  3–5 year olds
Day:  Mondays
Dates:  Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23
Time:  1:15–2 pm
Fee:  $32 members, $40 non-members
Class:  Limit 8 (minimum of 5)
Taught by:  Ms. Pacini

This child friendly yoga class is designed to develop better balance, muscle tone and flexibility. Your child will also learn breathing techniques to promote calmness. The class is for the introspective child.

Pre-K Book Club
Age:  4 (must be 4 years old by 12/1/15)
Day:  Fridays
Dates:  Nov. 6, 13, 20, Dec. 4
Time:  1:15–2 pm
Fee:  $32 members, $40 non-members
Class:  Limit 8 (minimum of 5)
Taught by:  Ms. Diane

Your child will be immersed in literacy, reading a chapter book and discussing the characters, setting, conflict resolution and foreshadowing. Your child will know the different attributes of a book and enjoy writing their own book... all in just 4 weeks!

Cooks & Books
Age:  3–5 year olds
Day:  Wednesdays
Dates:  Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23
Time:  1:15–2 pm
Fee:  $32 members, $40 non-members
Class:  Limit 8 (minimum of 5)
Taught by:  Ms. Becca

We will read and cook our way through great stories like Alphabet Soup and Everybody Bakes Bread. Children will create, learn and have culinary fun!

Registration for the above classes is ongoing through the start of each session. Children do not need to be enrolled in the JCC’s Early Childhood Program and JCC membership is not required to take the classes, however members receive a discount.
