Camp Romano offers school-age children a variety of adventurous and enriching programs which provide opportunities to establish lasting friendships and gain experience “by doing.” If you’re looking for a traditional, all around summer day camp experience, look no further than our Nitzanim Day Camp. For those seeking more focused activities, the JCC’s high-quality Specialty Camps allow kids to explore a specific interest area for an entire week. Every camp will participate in Red Cross swim lessons and have free swim daily.

Two primary camp options available for school-age children:

Think of our Nitzanim Day Camp as your traditional, all around summer day camp experience. It offers a little something for everyone and is ideally suited for first-time campers and younger campers who want to experience an exciting variety of activities. It is many of the specialty camps all rolled into one with an emphasis on weekly themes. Specialists lead activities in arts and crafts, sports and games, drama and nature.

The JCC’s high-quality Specialty Camps allow kids to explore a specific interest area for an entire week. Although we have had to make adjustments this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are still offering a variety of fun and engaging camps. Choose from arts, dance, cheerleading, gaming, sports, rocketry and more! Descriptions for all of this year’s Specialty Camps can be found in our  Camp Guide.

Early Childhood Camp

Our Early Childhood Camps encompass the high standards of our school-year Early Childhood Development Program. We believe camp should be the place for making new friends and having fun-filled days. Our goal is to provide a summer of developmentally appropriate, interactive, outdoor activities that are sure to create special memories for even our youngest campers.

Children are placed according to chronological age so that we can offer a developmentally appropriate and safe program. Absolutely no exceptions can be allowed. Each group has their own individual, air-conditioned, brightly lit and developmentally equipped room to utilize as their special indoor home base.

Schedule

This camp runs for 8 weeks during the Summer.

Our camp activity schedules are based on a five-day week. To accommodate varying family needs, we allow campers to choose to join us for fewer days in a week on Tuesday and Thursday or Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Campers who choose these lesser time options will get to experience a wide variety, but not all, of the activities summer camp offers. Tenokia (infants) must register for the extended full-day option only.

Important pick-up information for 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. campers: If you also have children attending the JCC’s School-Age Camp, please come pick up your ECDP camper first by 3:45 p.m.

Early Childhood Camp options:

Camp Tenokia (meaning nursery) – 6-weeks old – 18 months

Our youngest campers are provided with an environment rich in language, active play and a lot of love!

Camp K’Ton Ton (meaning little ones) – 18-months old – 2-year old

Our toddler group begins to experience camp with age-appropriate activities certain to make any child smile. Small groups allow our staff to give each child the time and attention busy toddlers need.

Camp Chaverim (meaning friends) – 3-years old

Camp Yeladin (meaning children) – 4-years old

Camp Gesher (meaning bridge) – Entering kindergarten in the fall

Activities

Throughout the summer children will be engaged in a variety of activities including outdoor time, art, sensory experiences, music and movement, stories, free play and more! In addition, Camp K’Ton Ton, Chaverim and Yeladim will have a daily nap/quiet time scheduled. Children in classrooms where everyone is over 18 months will participate daily in Red Cross Learn-to-Swim lessons. Camp Gesher also has a daily free swim scheduled! Campers of all ages will have activities related to the weekly theme
